Frequently Asked Questions

Where do you live?

I live in South Australia, Australia.

Can I mail something to you?

Sure! Message me on Discord or Twitter and I can send you the postage details.

What do you do for work?

I'm a software engineer / web developer. It's also my hobby, so in my free time I work on other projects, and this website is one of them!

What hardware do you use?

Laptop: MacBook Pro 15-inch, 2018 model, but have switched more recently to an Asus TUF DASH F15

Monitor: Acer CB281HK 4K Monitor as a second screen

Microphone: Only sold in Australia, I bought the microphone from a local electronics store named JB Hi-Fi.

Headphones: For listening I use the amazing Sony WH-1000XM3 noise-cancelling headphones from Sony. They're the best I've ever owned! I use them daily - gaming, podcasts, phone calls, etc.

Keyboard: Logitech K120 (cheap, nice and quiet) or Razer Blackwidow Ultimate Stealth :)

What software do you use?

YouTube: I would highly, highly, highly recommend the following two tools for any YouTube creator: TubeBuddy and VidIQ. Both provide browser extensions for all major browsers and provide added functionality on top of what YouTube themselves offer. Send me a Discord DM if you need help with using them!

Streaming: OBS Project (Open Broadcaster Software)

Video Editing: ScreenFlow and Premiere Pro

Thumbnails: Sketch app (vector drawing app) and Photoshop

Oh, and I sometimes play this tiny little niche game. :)

How can I use the same music as you?

I get all of my royalty-free music for Minecraft YouTube videos and Twitch streaming from Epidemic Sound.

The main thing I love about it is no longer having to remember to add attribution into my video descriptions. Even something like the YouTube media library requires you to attribute for some music, so it's a relief not needing to check for that every time.

What's awesome is that they offer a 30 day free trial - so you can use it without paying, as long as you link up your channel to their website and release the videos within the trial period. If you don't like it, you can cancel.

I started by using Epidemic Sound for parts of my Best Village Defence Against Pillager Raids video back in May 2020, and I've continued using it ever since! I love it.

After watching a video, if you want to know what music I used just post a comment and ask, along with giving the timestamp. I'll reply back with the song name :)

When did you create your Minecraft channel?

About a decade ago, on 9th March 2011. My first Minecraft video was uploaded the next day (on 10th March 2011), playing Minecraft Beta 1.3_01 on a dodgy laptop! The video quality was horrible :)

At what point did you decide to focus on growing the channel?

It wasn't until late 2019 that I started to consider taking this YouTube thing seriously. I did a few tests in October, and then from February 2020 I decided to focus on uploading videos weekly (on average).

A year and a half later, in mid-2021, I'd released over 100 videos on the channel and learned a lot. I'm not planning to stop any time soon! (I'm having too much fun! :P)

What is your most popular video?

At the time of writing, it's definitely my video explaining How To Make a Potion of Invisibility.

In preparation for the Minecraft 1.17 Caves and Cliffs update, I also created a video explaining Everything we know about the Axolotl in Minecraft 1.17, and that one was also extremely popular.

How can I join ScoutCraft Season 2?

Thanks for your interest in ScoutCraft SMP! We're pretty proud of what has been built so far, and we have plenty of long-term plans for the Minecraft server. We are no longer accepting applications for Season 2, but you can join the community via the ScoutCraft Discord server.

While you're there, why not join my LeigerGaming Discord server as well? :) There's tons of awesome people in there!

You may also be interested in my survival multiplayer server, which is powered by Patreon and Twitch subscribers. ScoutCraft requires that you be a content creator, and to be voted in from existing members. The Patreon server is open to all supporters, and a channel or content creation is not required. :)
